Vale Graham Selman 29 Sep 49 - 10 Jun 10 It is with much sadness that we report the passing of a great modeller and manufacturer Graham Selman. Grahan lived in Auckland, NZ with his wife Justine and ran a successful model railway manufacturing business that had a fairly strong influence on the Australian Model Railway scene.
The name North Yard is synonomus with a brand of quality wheels but it was more than that. It was a life time effort by Graham that produced a range of quality model railway items for the New Zealand and Australian markets which is his lasting legacy. The amazing facet of Graham's life in model trains was that he was so racked with arthritis one would wonder how he ever could achieve the fineness of detail. But Graham persisted. However, the model railway business was only a small part of Graham's life. He was also in parternship with his borther John in an engineering company also located in Auckland.
We extend our condolences to Justine and Natalie and our thoughts are with them. I know that after an association going back some thirty years I am going to miss not only a business colleague but a good friend and the Model Railway fraternity has also lost a good friend. Graham was such a cool mannered person and he will be missed but we should celebrate what he has given to this hobby.
